The Life Sciences Translator

Fair and transparent pricing

Pricing

Translation projects will be charged based on the number of words in the source text.

Contrary to the method of charging on the basis of the number of standard rows in the target text, which is still customary in Germany, this offers maximum planning reliability.

Estimating the Work Effort of a Translation:

The work effort, hence, the price depends on the following criteria:

  • Level of difficulty
  • Required research effort
  • Text format (editable?)
  • Urgency
  • Text type
  • Size of the text

Use of CAT Tools

If the format allows it, all translations will be processed using computer-aided translation tools (CAT).

I work with SDL Studio 2017. Text elements, which are fully (100% matches) or partially (fuzzy matches) pre-translated, i.e. already exist in the translation memory (TM), will be charged for at a lower rate.

However, in case of third party TMs this assumes that the contents of the translation memory complies with my quality requirements.

Proofreading

For translation agencies, I offer an optional linguistic proof, performed by another professional translator (“four-eyes-principle”).

In the course of this proofreading, the translation will be checked for completeness, accuracy, and possible spelling mistakes. This proofreading is an integral part of all translations for direct clients.

I offer several different proofreading options, which fit each budget.

DTP

If not done by the client, the graphical post-processing of the documents will be charged on top of the word rate.

This, for example, includes the creation of professional PDF documents with graphical elements.
